Mo Town's Mae Town Secures First Black Type in Pea Patch Victory

Mae Town (Mo Town) made it three wins in a row with her first stakes win in the Pea Patch Stakes Sunday at Ellis Park.

The Cave Brook Farm homebred broke her maiden going five furlongs at Churchill Downs May 9, and repeated against allowance company under the Twin Spires June 11.

After a good break from her far outside post, the filly found herself towards the rear of the field up the backstretch, several lengths off the swift early tempo set in :20.92. With plenty of work to do, she was navigated to the six path for her run, and began to pick off rivals with every stride. The 3-1 second choice was up in time, overtaking 3-1 favorite Pondering (Hard Spun) in the last few jumps, while Grade A (Army Mule) rallied up the rail to grab third at 33-1.

Mae Town is a half-sister to SW Rustler (Dominus), $233,980, as well as juvenile colt Longstrider (Union Rags). Latest Thinking is a descendant of GSW Minidar (Alydar), who produced Grade II winner A Little Warm (Stormin Fever).Minidar was the half-sister to Colonella (Pleasant Colony), who produced track-record setter GSW Pleasant Strike (Smart Strike) and whose full-sister is MSW & GISP Colonial Minstrel. The winner's dam was bred back to Loggins for this past season. Click for the Equibase.com chart.
